WOW! I’m happy! As you know, I had an addiction to my go-to foods, mainly oatmeal. Yes, but I mentally battled the urge to eat oatmeal for breakfast this morning. A win in the book for me…!
It’s taken me from October 3, 2021, to December 17 to leave oatmeal alone. Easy hell no, an addiction is an addiction, no matter your addiction. I’ve eaten my go-to foods for 11 years. I didn’t realize the addiction until I had to stop eating them.
The desire to quit must be stronger than the satisfaction to continue the addiction.
So today I decided to eat something else for breakfast. I decided to make a Spinach Frittata. I used 4 ounces of wilted spinach and two scrambled eggs. I paired it with sliced avocado and cherry tomatoes. It was so good.
Preparation is key to winning on the Whole30. You must be ready to go to your refrigerator and build a meal. Cook and keep your meats and roasted vegetables, and fruit prepared so you don’t have to get ready. lol
This breakfast consist of scramble eggs, crisp bacon, cinnamon roasted sweet potato and sliced strawberries plus black coffee
On January 1, 2022 I began a trial run of the Whole30 and so far I’m enjoying the ride.
A Whole30 rule is no eating between meals. Well, I snack on fruits and nuts between meals. I can eat those foods with my meal but not as a snack. I began to add the fruit to my meals and made sure I ate enough food to hold me to the next meal.
My daughter would always call me out, “Mom, you just finished eating; you are not hungry. “ She was right; it was just a habit. Because I’m in heightened awareness, each day is easier for me to cut out the snack.
I could not succeed on Whole30 if I didn’t read and understand the rules. Another rule is no wheat or corn product for the next 30 days. I was cooking my favorite mackerel cakes; the recipe calls for almond flour. I didn’t have any. Usually, I’d use wheat flour and some cornmeal. They stuck together pretty well since these were sweet potato mackerels and required an egg. This breakfast consisted of sweet potato mackerel cakes, sautéed green and yellow zucchini, topped with a fried egg plus coffee with no cream. It was yummy…!
So you see, if I didn’t know the rules, I would have used restricted ingredients and had to start Whole30 over from the beginning.
In The Whole30, textbook pages 32 to 41 provide a roadmap of what to expect, the ups and downs you may encounter during the journey. Everybody’s body is different, and the experience will differ depending on your prior lifestyle level. If you are a healthy eater, exercise regularly, and drink the required amount of water, then chances are your side effects , if any will be milder then the person whose meals consist of six-two percent unhealthy foods, doing little or no exercise.
Day 1-3
Because of my advanced preparation, I breezed through the first three days, and I identified habits that need to change:
eating between meals
relying on fruit for energy
Advanced preparation allows you to make a quick, tasty, healthy meal from your refrigerator. So easy Whole30 takes the guess work out of eating healthy!
Day 4-5
I’m still feeling strong mentally, physically, and emotionally. I’m paying attention to self-care and giving myself an at-home spa day. My spiritual practices are magical, and I feel rejuvenated and relaxing. I love the journey!
my sinus phlegm is healing
I am looking forward to day 6!
Developing the Whole30 mindset is powerful ...!
