Whole30 Puts Your Sugar Dragon On Notice!
One of the hardest wars you'll fight is when your "Brains" become addictive to Sugar...Beware!
Slay your Sugar Dragon
The Whole30 refers to your brain’s unrelenting demand for sugar, junk foods, or simple carbs as your “Sugar Dragon.” The more you feed it, the more fire it breathes, and the stronger it gets.
The only way to slay your Sugar Dragon is to starve it. The Whole30 allows for no added sugar, not some, not less but NONE! Know that your Sugar Dragon’s fire-breathing days are numbered if you follow the program 100%!
Fascinated
The more I learn about the Whole30, the more fascinated I’m by it. I mentioned in the last newsletter that most of my healthy go-to foods are not allowed on the Whole30; whole-natural legumes, beans, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. During my 11 years of eating healthy, I relied on and recommended eating these go-to foods. Whole30 forbids these foods. That made me more curious to find out why.
A match made in heaven!
The foods we eat in the Whole30 are whole natural foods loaded with micronutrients, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and water. It just so happens the body is a water machine, and its perfect fuel is micronutrients, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and water. Coincidence, I think not!
What You Can Eat:
Eat meat, seafood, and eggs; vegetables and fruit; natural fats; herbs, spices, and seasonings. Eat foods with a recognizable or straightforward list of ingredients, or no ingredients at all because they’re whole and unprocessed.
Grasp the power of Whole30
I’m beginning to see and understand why the Whole30 is so powerful and straightforward to follow. You eat whole-natural foods, so there are no counting calories, measuring, or weighing your food. Imagine for 30 days eating the food God designed and created to fuel the body? Do you think the body would be healthier? I am so excited to find out!
My old go-to foods are not included in the Whole30 because they have no amino acids, phytochemicals, micronutrients that contribute to your overall health. Remember, the goal is to fill and feed the body with the fuel God created.
“To be fair we’re not saying there’s nothing good to be found in: grains, beans, nuts, seeds, soy, and dairy. However, there are no vitamin, mineral, or phytonutrients that you could get from these foods that can’t be found (often in a more bioavailable form) in high-quality meats, vegetables, fruit, and natural fat… without the potential metabolic, digestive, and inflammatory downsides that come with these less “healthy “ restrictive food groups.”
Honing my preparation skills
I’m having fun experimenting, practicing, my Whole30 lifestyle skills. I am drinking my coffee black. However, I’ve learned that I like a little coffee in my milk and sweetener, lol. So, I’ll probably trade coffee for herbal tea.
Oatmeal is still my preferred breakfast, so I’m conditioning myself to stop eating it for breakfast. I’ve always believed that consuming more than four eggs a week increases cholesterol levels, so I won’t replace oatmeal with eggs. What is your favorite breakfast? I would love to hear some breakfast suggestions from you.
I love that the Whole30 requires advanced preparation to be successful. I baked a roast, a whole chicken, and some ground beef as staples to build meals around. I took pictures of some of the plates I’ve made, and I have to figure out how to bring images from my phone into Substack.
My Recommendations:
I’d recommend buying and reading the book to understand, prepare and practice the Whole30 program. Subscribe to this free newsletter and join me from February 7, 2022, to March 19, 2022, as we spend 30 days together resetting our health, habits, and relationships with food. Then a 10-day Food re-introduction period.
